SignalScope App Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the "SignalScope: Network & Toolkit" mobile application ("the App") collects, uses, and shares your personal information. This policy is maintained by Aetherlabs ("the Developer"), the developer of the App (website: https://aetherlabs-studio.vercel.app, contact: aitmbarekrafiq@gmail.com).

1. Information We Collect

The App collects or accesses the following types of data to provide its functionalities:

  • Cellular signal metrics: signal strength (dBm, ASU), RSRP/RSRQ quality levels, cell tower identities (CID, LAC/TAC), network type (GSM/LTE/NR), channel information, and registered network/carrier details. These are read locally from the Android telephony APIs and are only displayed on your device.
  • Wi-Fi network information: SSID, BSSID, signal strength, frequency, channel width, and connection speed obtained through Wi-Fi scanning — strictly to display nearby network analysis.
  • Bluetooth LE discovery: device names, MAC/hardware addresses, and signal strength (RSSI) of nearby Bluetooth devices shown to you on-screen for diagnostics.
  • Sensor data: readings from device sensors such as the microphone (noise level), accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, and light sensor. These readings are processed in real time on your device and are never recorded or uploaded.
  • Location Data: Coarse and Fine location permissions are required by the Android system to access cellular cell identities, WiFi SSID and signal details. We use this strictly on-device for network diagnostics — your physical location is never tracked, sold, stored remotely, or used for advertising.
  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and technical identifiers needed for compatibility.
  • Product Analytics: the App includes Google Firebase Analytics, which collects app-usage events (such as screen views, feature usage, and ad interactions) together with device and app identifiers to help improve the App. Firebase Remote Config may be used to fetch feature flags and settings.
  • Locally stored data: Noise Meter measurements are saved in a local Room database on your device only. They are never uploaded; you can delete them from the Noise Meter history, and they are removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data. Signal readings and trend charts are kept in memory only and are not written to storage.

The App does not read or upload your contacts, photos, messages, call logs, files, or browsing history. Location is accessed only on-device for the network-identification purposes described above and is never transmitted by the App itself; third-party SDKs process data strictly under their own policies linked below.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to:

  • Display real-time network signal metrics and tools.
  • Optimize app performance for different devices.

We do not sell your personal data or browsing history to third parties.

3. App Permissions

SignalScope requests the following sensitive permissions, each used strictly on-device for the diagnostics features described above:

Phone (READ_PHONE_STATE)

Required to read cellular signal quality (dBm/RSRP) and to list active SIM subscriptions so dual-SIM users can compare both carriers. All data is displayed locally only.

Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)

Required by Android to read cell tower identities and WiFi SSID/BSSID. The app does not track or store your movement, and location is never sent to any server.

Nearby Devices (BLUETOOTH_SCAN / BLUETOOTH_CONNECT)

Used for the Bluetooth diagnostics tools. Scanning requests the "neverForLocation" flag — Bluetooth results are never used to derive your location.

Microphone & Body Sensors (RECORD_AUDIO, BODY_SENSORS)

Used solely for the real-time noise meter and device sensor tools. Audio is analyzed live for a decibel reading — it is never recorded, saved, or uploaded.

Network & Wi-Fi State

Required to detect connection changes, signal quality, and to run the speed test.

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

Used to show the optional live signal-monitoring notification while the app runs in the foreground.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising

The App is free and supported by advertising. It uses the following third-party services:

  • Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK): serves banner, native and interstitial ads. AdMob may use device identifiers (such as the Advertising ID) and network information to deliver and measure ads. Ads are only shown after you have been asked for consent via the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP).
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) / Consent Form: Before any personalized advertising, the App displays Google's consent form. You can change or withdraw your advertising consent at any time via the App's settings ("Ad privacy" in the Google settings), and reset or limit your Advertising ID in your device's privacy settings.
  • Firebase / Google Analytics: optional, anonymized product analytics (screen views, feature usage, ad interactions) used to improve the App. Firebase Remote Config may fetch feature flags; analytics events and identifiers are transmitted to Google servers under Google's privacy policy.

The speed test transfers test data to and from Cloudflare endpoints (speed.cloudflare.com) to measure your real connection speed; no identifying information is attached to this traffic by the App. In builds distributed outside Google Play, additional ad networks (for example Huawei Ads / HMS Core with the OAID advertising identifier, or Start.io) may be used instead of or alongside AdMob.

5. Data Retention & Security

Data is processed primarily on your device. Any transient data used for analytics is retained only as long as necessary. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect against unauthorized access.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Disable Location permissions in device settings (though some app features may stop working).
  • Reset your Advertising ID (OAID) in device privacy settings to opt-out of personalized ads.
  • Contact us to request information/deletion of any collected data.
